A Cool Little Tip I Learned

Recently I recieved a book called Fashion Inside Out: Daniel V's Guide to How Style Happens From Inspiration to Runway and Beyond (doesn't that just roll off the tongue) by Daniel Vosovic. Daniel was a contestant on Project Runway's second season and was the third runner up. In the forward of his book, Tim Gunn of Preject Runway explains that judges saw Daniel's youth as a hindrance rather than a strength and that it was one of the major reason he was sent home.

In this book Daniel explains his experience with the fashion world and how one goes from acquiring inspiration for a sketch to constructing a garment to organizing a runway show and more. I've barely begun reading the book but I'm already very interested. In the beginning of the book Daniel discusses his method of sketching. He gives several tips for bettering one's sketching ability but something that insprired me was when he said he doesn't use an eraser. He explains it as erasing the mistakes that a designer is meant to learn from and that if you embrace the messiness of a couple drawings that eventually you'll get better and better. As I read on in this book though I hope to come across more good tips and perhaps with my sewing lessons as well I'll have some good stepping stones for my hopes of becoming attending art school and possibly becoming a designer.
