Cool For Cats

As weird as it sounds it seems as though there is a feline infatuation going on lately. Perhaps I'm the only one who has noticed this but its almost like kitties have become trendy? Now maybe you're thinking "What does that even mean?" but just think about it. Cats are like, cool now, whereas I remember a time when having a cat sort of made you a geek. So, I mean don't get me wrong-- I love cats! They're the bomb, but it strikes me as odd that cats went from whatever, like, "You have a cat? That's cool... Now let's talk about something that matters." But nowadays its like "omg luk at thiz kat i drewwww!" "LOLCATS" "You'll never guess what my cat did today..." "I wish my parents would let me get a cat!" and so on and so forth... maybe not to that extreme. But anyways, cats are great. They're like that quiet friend who doesn't talk a whole lot but you know exactly what they're thinking just by the look on their face. They provide hours of entertainment-- if you dont believe me check out www.kittehroulette.com. They cuddle, and who doesn't love the sound of a hearty meow? I myself am not a cat owner but I've tried numerous times to
convince my parents to let us have one. However, for you lovers of kitties who have known all along your pet was cool, good for you! Cat-inspired items are dominating the scene right now such as Hello Kitty, leopard print, cat eye sunglasses, etc. But even if this cat craze dies down soon I, for one, will always be cool for cats.

Trendy: Word Games

As strange as it might sound, word games are cool. Two in particular ("Words with Friends" and "Hanging with Friends") have been very popular lately. Like the Doodle Jump of the last couple weeks its become common to hear during class, "Oh my gosh... so-and-so like won't solve my word on Words with Friends!" and I find this funny. Firstly because I've been playing these games for a while now (yeah, I know, I'm cool) and secondly because, well-- they're word games... WWF is basically digital scrabble and HWF is a delightful twist on hangman and I think this is funny because most people don't consider vocabulary to be "fun" (not sure why). Usually the cool games are, like I mentioned earlier, Doodle Jump or Bubble Buster but now we're playing a game that actually requires us to use our brains, weird! I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE word games, these two especially, and I myself am an avid player. Alas, by the end of this week however, they will probably be lame and we'll all move on to some other game to play under our desks when the teacher isn't looking. But it was fun while it lasted and I won't stop playing anytime soon so for you other vocabulary lovers, start a game with me: abizzleforizzle. <3

Homecoming Week: Decades Day

Ahhh homecoming week... an excitingly excruciating week of planning, buying, and stressing over the upcoming themed days, all the events going on throughout the week, and of course-- homecoming itself. This year's festivities start off with Decade's Day on Monday so I figured I'd christen my blog with my first post focusing on 60s, 70s, and 80s fashion comebacks.

The 60s, 70s, and 80s were three decades I'm sad I missed. I love the mismatched patterns and bright colors of the 60s, the 70s flower child movement along with its maxi dresses and flared jeans, and the jellies, destroyed hair, and bright leggings that were the 80s. However, for those of us who would've loved to have been a part of these decades of distinctive fashion fear not, because its all coming back.

I'm sure some of you remember a few years back when 80s-esque style was making a comeback and suddenly it was okay to wear neon and obnoxious jewelry again. Now we're beginning to see the 60s and 70s stepping into the spotlight with clothes like Target's new Missoni line that features retro pieces and LOTS of zig-zags. As I said before, I've always been a big fan of retro and vintage fashion and I can't wait to see what becomes of this retro fall trend.
